OriginPro is a software application with tools for data analysis, publication-quality graphing, and programming. The University has renewed the site license for OriginPro which now runs until August 2019.
There are two types of installations available:

  • For computers that are permanently connected to the University network
  • Please contact your local IT staff to get Origin installed on University-owned computers.
  • Chemistry users should click here for instructions.


2. Home-use (roaming) install

  • For computers that are not permanently connected to the University network.
  • Installation may be on personal or University-owned computers.
  • See below for installation instructions.

The University of Oxford site license for OriginPro has been renewed from August 2016 to August 2019.

Marianne skerrett. The Network based license key file servers are being upgraded to reflect the new license period.

The home-use license needs to be manually renewed to reflect this new license.

Home-use installation instructions


Note: It is recommended that you uninstall any previous version(s) of Origin before you begin.
There are two versions of OriginPro 2017 for home use, one for 32-bit and one for 64-bit operating systems (if you are not sure which version to use, select 32-bit).
  • Click here to download OriginPro 2017 32-bit for home-use.
  • Click here to download OriginPro 2017 64-bit for home-use.
Save the file somewhere handy (e.g. on the Desktop) then unzip it
  • Start the installation by double-clicking Setup.exe
  • You should see the extraction window:
    Followed by a message and progress window:
  • You will be asked to specify the location of the User Files Folder:
    It is best to accept the default location which is in the Documents folder. You may be asked to create the folder if it doesn’t exist:
    Click Yes to continue.
  • Because this is the first time OriginPro 2017 has been run on your computer, you will need to enter a Product Key.
    To receive a Product Key you must click the following link:

  • You will see the following Web page:
    If you already have an account on the OriginLab Web site, enter your UserID and password. Click Log In and proceed to the next step.
    If you have not previously registered, click Create an account.
    Fill in your details then click the button labelled Join
    You must use a valid Oxford Email address to sign up.
  • You should now see a confirmation screen:
    You should receive an Email containing a Product Key.
    Copy and paste this Product Key in to the License Activation window:
    Click on the Activate button
  • You should see the following window:
    Click OK.
    You are now ready to use OriginPro 2017!
